Maison 16 and Distillerie de la Loire

The Maison 16 adventure began a few years ago, in the heart of the Loire region, in the mind of César Triouleyre, its founder. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs and artisans of good food, he has always nurtured the desire to create a project with his own hands, by designing artisanal and organic products that reflect the terroir of the Loire region.

In 2019, Maison 16 was born in the family garage. César developed his first organic liqueurs there, made from hand-picked aromatic plants. The first creations — Sapinette, Serpolette, Fleurette, Gin Boréal, Papastis, and Grande Sapinette — reflect his commitment to natural beverages, without artificial additives, colorings, or preservatives.

Today, Maison 16 has grown and moved to new premises in Saint-Marcellin-en-Forez (25 rue de l'Étang, 42680), while maintaining its attachment to local and artisanal harvesting. The plants used come mainly from family forests in Haute-Loire, with strong partnerships with herbalist gatherers and the National Forestry Office in the municipalities of Valcivières (63) and Saint-Marcellin-en-Forez (42).

This approach allows for the enhancement of the region's natural resources, with a focus on sustainability and ecology, while offering authentic and unique spirits.

A range that tells the story of the terroir

  • 2019: La Sapinette – The first creation, based on fir needles and buds, already reflected the identity of Maison 16.

  • Spring 2020: La Serpolette – A liqueur based on wild thyme, harvested locally.

  • 2022: La Fleurette – A delicate blend of local flowers (meadowsweet, elderflower) with exotic lychee notes.

This same year also marks the launch of a range of limited edition organic spirits, always from local harvests:

  • Grande Sapinette – Aged 12 months in ex-Cognac barrels and reduced to 45%.

  • Gin Boréal – Distilled with fir essences from Forez.

  • Papastis – A traditional anise-flavored drink enhanced with wild fennel.

Finally, Maison 16 now offers four artisanal liqueurs, perfect as a digestif or an original aperitif:

  • Mint

  • Limoncello

  • Raspberry

  • Sweet Verbena (new!)

These liqueurs, with 17.5% alcohol content, are naturally colored by maceration from fresh and local ingredients. For cocktail lovers, the raspberry as an aperitif is a real delight. All recipes can be found at www.maison16.com.
